Sensor size

The bigger the sensor, the better the low-light performance and the lower the image noise. This is particularly important for indoor events, houses of worship, and evening coverage where lighting may be less than ideal.

Form factor

If the camera is going to be handheld, ergonomics is important, especially for long shoots. A camcorder form factor is generally more comfortable for extended handheld use than a mirrorless or DSLR body.

OSD Off / Clean HDMI

For mirrorless cameras, make sure that the camera has clean HDMI out with none of the usual on-screen display (OSD) elements of the camera embedded in the video feed out of the camera. OSD elements in your livestream feed look unprofessional.

Zoom

Ensure that you have adequate zoom to focus on a speaker’s face at the front, especially if your camera is located towards the rear of the venue. PTZ cameras offer up to 30X zoom, which is usually more than sufficient.
